We, the members of the Army of the Potomac (AoP) Eastern Theatre 1861-1865, Inc., pledge ourselves to the commemoration of those who supported and served the during the War of the Rebellion, to render service to preserving the history, and to promote the education of our members and the public.
The rapid decline in reenactor participant numbers and available battle reenactment event venues following the 150th commemoration cycle led to the demise of the dedicated event command staff model employed for years by the AoP, Inc. and legacy organizations.
Conversely, the Civil War Impressionist Association (CWIA), originally organized as a subsidiary of AoP to provide a distinct identity & promotion vehicle for the growing interest in living history and historic impressionism, swiftly flourished beyond expectations. The growth, prominence, accumulating accolades and requests for CWIA’s functional and notable person impressions was undeniable. So, like any smart business, AoP has shifted emphasis to the dominant and successful product line. To better understand CWIA’s mission and core competencies, visit the website at www.civilwaria.org.
